Project
WELLTOGETHER Graphic
Responding to lingering mental health struggles within the community post-COVID, passionate Somerset Hills YMCA branch board volunteers sought to curate vital mental health and whole-person well-being services and support, leveraging the Y as a trusted resource through which to distribute resources and information. Volunteers had the content. What they needed was a Y-friendly vehicle for sharing. The marketing team was ready to help.
APPROACH & OUTCOME
Marketing collaborated with volunteers, providing multiple options and recommending “WELLTOGETHER” (one word, all caps) as the final name for the 100% volunteer-led initiative. The name “WELLTOGETHER” was an intentional nod to the naming convention of the nationwide Y member-led volunteer program, TOGETHERHOOD™, and was intended to evoke feelings of familiarity and trust. Once agreed upon, concepts for the graphic were shared for review and selection. Branch board volunteers were thrilled at the TOGETHERHOOD tie-in and creative executions, provided in square and horizontal aspect ratios for maximum versatility. The final graphic was unique, relevant, and fully YMCA brand compliant. The WELLTOGETHER initiative began at Somerset Hills YMCA as a monthly newsletter on mental health and related whole-person wellness content. It was quickly shared across all seven branches within Greater Somerset County YMCA—another example of how an association of YMCAs could organically amplify timely initiatives for the greater good of the community.
This project is an example of the player-coach role I pivoted into while at Greater Somerset County YMCA as the organization recovered from impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, including significantly reduced staffing levels in areas like marketing, finance, and HR.
