Rowan University sought to illuminate opportunities for Rowan University to position itself to meet the region’s emerging need for more career-focused education and training—specifically calling out vital careers in the health sciences as the top priority. A short-run publication would be crafted and distributed exclusively to key internal university stakeholders.

Titled “Forward: A Vision for Rowan University,” a strategic short-run printed publication was created on behalf of Rowan University’s Office of the Provost. The piece succinctly translated key concepts and areas of opportunity in conjunction with relevant regional socioeconomic, education, and labor data into understandable renderings, charts, and infographics—all woven together by a seamless narrative. This was the first special publication crafted on behalf of Dr. Ali A. Houshmand, when he was Provost of Rowan University.

The booklet’s one-of-a-kind custom exterior cover was comprised of rich metallic copper cover-weight stock imprinted simply with 100% black ink. It featured a wrap-around binding construction with punch holes for the copper-toned double-coil spiral binding visible only on the back cover. Adding to the uniqueness and cost-effective innovation of this short-run publication was the use of step-up pages to differentiate internal content sections.

Crafted to inspire and generate internal consensus around a novel idea for Rowan University, “Forward: A Vision for Rowan University” made a memorable first impression and set the stage for further discussion in the years to come.
